Dr. Priyanka Soni, a 2012 batch IAS officer, has taken charge as the new Deputy Commissioner of Panchkula. Before her current role, she began her professional career as a medical officer at a community health center in Suratgarh, Rajasthan in 2011.
On her first day at work, Dr. Soni inspected all offices of the district secretariat and emphasized the importance of ensuring that the benefits of government schemes reach every individual in the area. She belongs to Suratgarh in Rajasthan’s Sriganganagar and was awarded a merit certificate from CBSE for securing 100% marks in maths in class 10.
She also worked as a junior resident at Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, Delhi, in 2012. In the same year, she secured the 42nd rank in the UPSC civil services exam. She was first posted as SDM, Ballabhgarh, in the Faridabad district in 2014, where she started the E-Disha Kendra to provide all citizen services under a single roof.
She has also served as the Deputy Commissioner of Kaithal, Hisar, and Ambala and as the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Rewari and Karnal.
Additionally, she has been the commissioner of the municipal corporations of Karnal and Panipat. During her tenure as Kaithal DC, she started the Vidhya Vahini bus service for girl students and organized a women’s film festival in the town.
For her work towards the empowerment of women, she received the Indira Gandhi Shakti Award 2021 from the Chief Minister. Furthermore, she was awarded the Atal Bihari Good Governance Award 2020 for ‘mission ahahak,’ a program for domestic women workers in Hisar.
