A traffic jam in which vehicles piled up for more than two kilometers was reported on National Highway No. 65 at Thupranpet of Choutuppal Mandal

Hyderabad-Vijayawada way of National Highway was blocked after the heavy truck turned turtle and fell across the road.
Guntur toll plaza witnessed a rush of vehicles after 11 am for more than one hour causing traffic jams. It took nearly 20 to 25 minutes for the vehicles to cross the toll plaza.

The traffic jam happened at the toll gates dedicated to the vehicles going to Warangal’s side from Hyderabad. Five toll gates were opened for vehicles going from Hyderabad to Warangal to ease the traffic.

The police and staff of the toll plaza swung into action and took measures to streamline the vehicular flow to clear a traffic jam.

The traffic flow became normal at the toll plaza after 12.30 pm.

Railway and bus stations in Hyderabad

Railway and bus stations in Hyderabad were packed with passengers while the Hyderabad-Vijayawada

highway saw traffic jams on Friday as thousands of families were heading to their native places in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh for Sankranti.

Hyderabad-Vijayawada was choked with vehicles. Hundreds of vehicles queued up at Pattangi toll plaza.

With both the Telugu states declaring holidays from a day before Sankranti festivities, people left for

their villages by trains, buses, or whatever mode of transport was available.

Many families left in their four-wheelers. The toll plaza at Patangi in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district was teeming with hundreds of cars.

The queue of vehicles was seen for nearly a kilometer.

Despite the Fast Tag facility, the huge number of vehicles and the problem in scanning Fast Tag for some vehicles led to a huge traffic jam.
