Mumbai — Uzma Siddiqui, the visionary fashion designer and founder of the renowned brand “UZMA,” has been honored with the prestigious Best Indo-Western Fusion Designer Award at the National Designer Awards 2023. This recognition comes as a testament to her outstanding contribution to the fashion industry, particularly in the domain of sustainable and stylish clothing for teenage girls.

Uzma Siddiqui, born in Saharanpur and the daughter of Mr. A.U. Siddiqui, embarked on her journey in the world of fashion in 2007. With 19 years of rich experience, she has weathered numerous challenges and setbacks, emerging stronger and more resilient each time.

After completing a 3-year Fashion Technology diploma course with honors from Lucknow, Uzma joined the prestigious India Export House in Noida. Her talent and dedication quickly propelled her to the position of Head Designer cum Sampling Incharge. During this phase, she collaborated with renowned international buyers like Zara, Walmart, Veromoda, Only, and others.

Despite facing a setback due to visa issues for an international exhibition in Paris, Uzma continued to represent her company on various platforms. Marriage and motherhood brought new challenges, with complications during her pregnancy leading to a medical operation and subsequent bed rest. Battling societal misconceptions and overcoming depression, Uzma, with the unwavering support of her husband and family, re-entered the workforce in 2009 and became a mother to a sweet daughter.

Freelance designing and the birth of another daughter in 2013 did not deter Uzma, who managed to balance motherhood and her passion for design. In response to the unavailability of suitable clothing for her elder daughter, Uzma observed a gap in the market for sustainable fashion for teenagers. Inspired by this realization and driven by a vision to blend comfort, style, and sustainability, she founded her brand, “UZMA for the young diva.”

A former state-level athlete and NCC ‘C’ Certificate holder from Naval Wing, Uzma Siddiqui brings a unique blend of sportsmanship and creativity to her endeavors. Her achievements are not only a result of her dedication but also a testament to the unwavering support of her family, including her husband Mohd. Usman Siddiqui and in-laws.

Uzma’s brand, “UZMA for the young diva,” aims to provide comfort and style to the growing generation while promoting sustainability. In her own words, her message is simple – “Be comfortable, sustainable, and stylish.”

With a strong vision for society, Uzma Siddiqui continues to inspire and contribute to the fashion industry, leaving an indelible mark with her unique designs and commitment to sustainability.
