The parade took place at the Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex. Senior CRPF officers led the ceremonial march. Personnel displayed precision, discipline, and coordination throughout the programme.

Moreover, the event highlighted the force’s contribution to internal security across India. It also reflected the Centre’s growing focus on the Northeast. Senior state officials attended the ceremony alongside top CRPF commanders.

Shah Lays Foundation for 10th Assam Police Battalion

During the visit, Shah laid the foundation stone for the 10th Assam Police Battalion campus at Kachutoli in Sonapur. The government has allocated Rs 260 crore for the project. Authorities will develop the campus across 347 acres.

Officials cleared the land of encroachments over the past two years. As a result, construction can now begin without delay. The battalion will function under the Assam Police.

Furthermore, the new campus will strengthen operational readiness. It will also improve training facilities and accommodation for personnel. Officials expect the project to boost law enforcement capacity in the region.

Visit Follows Programmes in Tripura and Assam

Earlier, Shah visited Agartala for official engagements. He attended a Rajbhasha Sammelan and launched the second phase of the Vibrant Village Programme. The initiative aims to improve infrastructure and create livelihood opportunities in border villages.

In addition, he addressed a public meeting in Cachar district. During his speech, he outlined the Centre’s development roadmap for the Northeast. He also stressed the importance of peace and stability.

Political Momentum Ahead of Assembly Elections

This visit marks Shah’s third trip to poll-bound Assam since December 29. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has stepped up its outreach ahead of the 126-member Assembly elections scheduled for March–April.

Therefore, political observers see these visits as part of a broader election strategy. The party aims to highlight development, security, and infrastructure growth. At the same time, it seeks to strengthen its grassroots presence.

Overall, the CRPF parade and the police battalion project underscore the Centre’s emphasis on security and development in Assam. As the elections approach, such high-profile events will likely shape the political narrative across the state.
