Joint Operation in Cachar

Assam Rifles carried out a joint operation with Cachar Police on Tuesday. The team acted on specific intelligence inputs.

Security personnel intercepted a Bolero vehicle at Bhaskhandi in Cachar district. They searched the vehicle and found a large quantity of narcotic substances hidden inside.


Major Drug Seizure

Officials estimated the seized narcotics at around ₹7 crore in the illegal market. The operation dealt a major blow to drug trafficking networks in the region.

The team also seized the Bolero used for transportation. Authorities recovered two mobile phones linked to the suspects.


Arrests and Investigation

Security forces arrested two suspected drug peddlers during the operation. They handed over the accused and seized items to Cachar Police.

Police have started further investigation and legal proceedings. Officials aim to trace the wider network behind the trafficking.


Crackdown Ahead of Elections

Officials said the operation holds importance ahead of upcoming elections in Assam. Agencies have intensified checks to prevent illegal activities.
