Manipur: Security Forces Arrest 5 Militants in Multiple Operations Across Imphal East and Tengnoupal

Security forces conducted a series of coordinated operations across Manipur, leading to the arrest of five active militants linked to different insurgent outfits. Arrests in Imphal East District

Security forces intensified operations in Imphal East district and arrested multiple militants from different banned outfits. On April 5, officials apprehended an active cadre of KCP (Apunba), identified as Thokchom Punachandra Meitei alias Tunal, from his residence under Lamlai Police Station.

On the same day, security personnel carried out another operation and arrested a PREPAK (PRO) member, Victor Takhelmayum, also known by aliases Olen, Johnson, and Naoba. He was taken into custody from Sanjenbam Khunou. During the operation, authorities seized a mobile phone and an Aadhaar card from his possession.

Earlier, on April 4, security forces arrested an active cadre of UNLF (K), Laishram Inaotomba Singh alias Dondon. The arrest took place at Palace Compound, Mahabali Mamang under Porompat Police Station. Officials also recovered a mobile phone during this operation.


Joint Operation in Tengnoupal District

Meanwhile, security forces, in coordination with the Delhi Police, conducted a joint operation in Tengnoupal district. The team targeted the area between BP 72 and 73 near Yangoubung village under Moreh Police Station.

During this operation, officials arrested two active cadres of KYKL. Authorities identified them as Thokchom Ingocha Singh alias Kebi from Thoubal district and Thokchom Ragunath Meitei alias Birjit from Kakching district.

The joint effort demonstrated strong coordination between central and state agencies. Moreover, it helped security forces track and apprehend militants operating in border areas.


Ongoing Efforts to Strengthen Security

Security forces have increased surveillance and intelligence-based operations across Manipur. These arrests reflect a proactive approach to dismantling militant networks in the region.
