Joint Security Operation Foils Suspected Violence Plot

New Delhi/Imphal: Security forces on Thursday confirmed the arrest of Haobijam Dilip Singh, a key commander of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), during a coordinated operation in Delhi.

According to officials, security agencies apprehended Haobijam while he was allegedly trying to hold a secret meeting in the national capital. The Special Cell of Delhi Police, Manipur Police, and central intelligence agencies jointly carried out the operation.

Following the arrest, investigators conducted extensive interrogation that reportedly led to one of the largest recent recoveries of arms and ammunition in Manipur’s Kakching district.

Officials stated that the recovery may have prevented a large-scale violence plan targeting Manipur and possibly other areas. Furthermore, security agencies have intensified investigations into the insurgent network and its possible operations outside the Northeast region.

During the search operation, security personnel recovered several sophisticated weapons, including an AK-56 rifle, an Amogh rifle, an AI rifle, and an M4 rifle equipped with a scope.

In addition, authorities seized empty magazines linked to INSAS, AK, SLR, M4, and LMG rifles. The operation also uncovered a large quantity of explosives and ammunition.

According to officials, security forces recovered 51 high-explosive bombs, two para bombs, 11 detonators, and four lethod shells. Moreover, the teams seized nearly 2,000 live rounds of ammunition meant for Amogh, INSAS, AK, .303, and SLR rifles.

Police sources revealed that Haobijam Dilip Singh was wanted in more than a dozen criminal cases registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

Investigators are currently examining his contacts, communication channels, and movements before the arrest. Authorities also suspect that the insurgent outfit may have planned activities beyond Manipur, including possible operations linked to Delhi.

Security agencies have increased monitoring in sensitive regions following the operation. Officials stated that the investigation remains ongoing and further arrests may follow based on intelligence findings.
