CADC to Implement NEP From 2027-28
The Chakma Autonomous District Council will adopt and implement the National Education Policy from the 2027-28 academic session.
The decision came during a meeting on educational administration at the council headquarters in Kamalanagar on Sunday.
Executive Member in charge of Education Doymoy Daveng Chakma chaired the meeting.
The council will follow the policy framework and guidelines issued by the Mizoram government. Meanwhile, the District School Education Board and concerned education departments will begin preparations for the rollout.
Weekly Mizo Speaking Day in Schools
The CADC will introduce a weekly ‘Mizo Speaking Day’ across primary and middle schools under its jurisdiction.
Under the initiative, schools will observe the programme every Wednesday. The council aims to give students regular opportunities to learn and practise the Mizo language.
To ensure a structured rollout, the council has formed a committee headed by Satish Chakma, Office Superintendent of the Primary Education Department.
The committee will prepare guidelines and modalities for implementing the programme across schools.
New Teacher Transfer Rules Under Review
The meeting also approved in principle the draft Chakma Autonomous District Council (Transfer and Posting of Elementary School Teachers) Rules, 2026.
Education Officer Punya Jagat Talukdar will head a review committee examining the draft rules.
The committee must complete the review and finalise the draft by October 10. After that, the council will place the revised draft before the executive committee for consideration.
Literacy Programme Planned
The council also decided to launch a systematic literacy programme across the CADC area.
However, the programme will require approval from the executive committee and sufficient funds before implementation.
The initiative aims to strengthen literacy efforts in the council’s jurisdiction as part of its broader education plans.
Schools to Introduce Weekly Meditation
The meeting also approved a plan to introduce 10 minutes of ‘Anapana’ meditation every Friday in all primary and middle schools under the CADC.
Students will participate in the short meditation session as part of the proposed school activities.
