Scuffle Erupts Between Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot Supporters Ahead of Party Meeting in Ajmer

In a heated incident earlier today, supporters of Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and his rival Sachin Pilot engaged in a scuffle ahead of a feedback meeting with party workers in Ajmer. The meeting, which was scheduled to take place in the Vaishali Nagar area of the city, was intended as a platform for party members to provide input before a larger meeting chaired by AICC’s Rajasthan co-incharge, Amrita Dhawan.

The confrontation between the supporters of the two leaders reportedly began over a dispute regarding seating arrangements, escalating into a physical altercation. The Christianganj Police Station SHO, Karan Singh, confirmed that the incident took place and stated that both factions exchanged heated words before the situation turned violent.

The meeting, primarily attended by office bearers, saw the presence of supporters belonging to Ajmer Saras Dairy Chairman Ramchandra Chaudhary and RTDC Chairman Dharmendra Rathore. As tensions rose, slogans were shouted against each other, further exacerbating the already charged atmosphere and leading to the outbreak of a scuffle.

Congress city president Vijay Jain condemned the incident and acknowledged that it was an unfortunate turn of events. He highlighted that the gathering was intended for constructive discussions and feedback, but the altercation between the supporters derailed the purpose of the meeting. Jain emphasized the need for maintaining discipline and unity within the party, urging members to resolve differences through peaceful means and constructive dialogue.

The clash between the supporters of Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot is indicative of the ongoing power struggle within the Rajasthan Congress. The two leaders have been at odds for some time, with Pilot challenging Gehlot’s leadership in the past. Their differences came to a head last year when Pilot, along with a group of MLAs, rebelled against Gehlot, leading to a political crisis in the state.

Since then, efforts have been made to bridge the divide between the two factions, and Pilot was eventually reinstated as the Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan. However, tensions between their supporters have persisted, as evidenced by today’s scuffle. This incident serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by the Congress party in maintaining internal cohesion and managing competing interests within its ranks.

The party leadership, including AICC’s Rajasthan co-incharge Amrita Dhawan, must address these internal conflicts and work towards fostering unity among its members. Such clashes not only tarnish the party’s image but also divert attention from crucial issues and impede effective governance.

As the news of the scuffle spread, party leaders and workers expressed their disappointment and urged for immediate steps to restore peace and harmony within the Rajasthan Congress. The incident serves as a wake-up call for the party to focus on resolving internal conflicts, promoting dialogue, and ensuring that the party’s interests are kept at the forefront.

The scuffle in Ajmer highlights the urgent need for the Congress party to prioritize unity and reconciliation. Only through a united front can the party effectively serve the people of Rajasthan and work towards its larger goals. It is essential for leaders and members to rise above personal differences, set aside grievances, and work collectively towards strengthening the party’s position in the state.
