Veteran actor Gufi Paintal, renowned for his iconic portrayal of the character ‘Shakuni mama’ in the legendary Indian television series “Mahabharat,” breathed his last on Monday at a hospital in Mumbai. The cause of death was reported as age-related issues. The news was confirmed by his nephew, Hiten Paintal. Gufi Paintal, whose birth name was Saravjit Singh Paintal, had been undergoing treatment at a hospital in suburban Andheri.

With a career spanning several decades, Gufi Paintal established himself as a versatile and accomplished actor in the Indian film and television industry. Born in 1944, he began his journey in the entertainment world by working as an assistant director to the renowned filmmaker B.R. Chopra.
