Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya enters 100-crore club

Waltair Veerayya is a 2023 Indian Telugu-language action comedy film directed by Bobby Kolli and produced by Mythri Movie Makers. The film stars Chiranjeevi as the titular character alongside Ravi Teja, Shruti Haasan, and Catherine Tresa.

Following that the film was announced in August 2021, and principal photography commenced in December 2021 with filming taking place in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, and Malaysia.

The soundtrack is composed by Devi Sri Prasad with cinematography by Arthur A. Wilson. Waltair Veerayya was released on 13 January 2023 and received mixed reviews from critics.

Waltair Veerayya, a notorious fisherman-cum-smuggler from Vizag, needs money to fight a court case. He is approached by CI Seethapathi, who tells him about Solomon Caesar, a notorious drug lord who escaped from RAW’s custody after killing multiple police officers.

Waltair Veerayya, the Chiranjeevi-starrer Telugu film which released in theatres recently, has entered

the 100-crore club and collected Rs 108 crore at the worldwide box office in three days, the makers announced.

Also starring Ravi Teja in a prominent role, Waltair Veerayya also features Shruti Haasan, Bobby Simha,

Sathyaraj, John Vijay and Catherine Tresa appear briefly. Waltair Veerayya is written by Kona Venkat and

K Chakravarthy Reddy and directed by Bobby Kolli, with music composed by Devi Sri Prasad. The cinematography is by Arthur A Wilson, with editing by Niranjan Devaramane

The film, which is an out-and-out commercial entertainer, opened to positive reviews.

“The way character dynamics between Chiranjeevi and Ravi Teja play out—mostly for humor and then to land one effective, moving moment—invigorates the film big time in the second half,” notes Cinema Express in its review.

Meanwhile, after Waltair Veerayya, Chiranjeevi will be next seen in Bhola Shankar, alongside Keerthy Suresh and Tamannaah Bhatia.

Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya did well on its opening day with Rs 33 crore. According to early estimates, the film earned good numbers on Day 6, January 18. Waltair Veerayya earned approximately Rs 9.25 crore on Day 6. Hence, the total collection now stands at Rs 109.60 crore.
