Priyanka Chopra, one of India’s top actors, has opened up about her move to Hollywood and why she left Bollywood behind. Despite her success in Hindi cinema, Chopra felt “cornered” in the industry due to opposition and politics that prevented her from getting roles.

In a recent interview with Dax Shepard on his podcast Armchair Expert, Chopra shared how her manager Anjula Acharia came to her rescue and suggested she build a career in music in the US. This ultimately led to her breakthrough role in the 2015 television series Quantico.

Before making her mark in Hollywood, Chopra tried her hand at music, releasing songs like “In My City” and “Exotic” to showcase her singing talent. However, her focus ultimately shifted to acting.

Chopra is now set to star in the Russo Brothers’ upcoming series, Citadel, alongside Richard Madden. The spy thriller series will be available on Prime Video from April 28. She is also expected to make a return to Hindi cinema in Farhan Akhtar’s Jee Le Zara, co-starring Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif.

Chopra’s experience in Bollywood sheds light on the challenges faced by actors in the industry, particularly women, who often face discrimination and marginalization. Her success in Hollywood serves as an inspiration to those seeking to break free from the limitations of the Indian film industry and make their mark on the global stage.
