Former Gujarat agriculture minister Vallabhbhai Vaghasiya, aged 69, passed away in a tragic car accident near Savarkundla town in Amreli district. The incident occurred on Thursday night when Vaghasiya, a former Bharatiya Janata Party legislator and the agriculture and urban housing minister in the Vijay Rupani government, was returning from a village to Savarkundla.
At around 8:30 PM on a state highway near Vanda village, the car he was driving collided with a bulldozer, resulting in injuries to Vaghasiya and another person in the vehicle. Both were immediately rushed to a hospital, where Vaghasiya was unfortunately declared dead. The news of his demise drew a large gathering of party leaders and supporters at the hospital, grieving the loss of a dedicated leader.
Mahesh Kaswala, the current BJP MLA from Savarkundla, expressed his condolences, highlighting Vaghasiya’s role as a skilled organizer, and mass leader, and his significant service to the people of Amreli.
Amreli MLA Kaushik Vekariya also acknowledged Vaghasiya’s commitment to the welfare of the region’s residents. In the 2012 Assembly election, Vaghasiya emerged victorious as a BJP MLA from the Savarkundla seat and subsequently took office as a minister in 2016 under the Vijay Rupani government.
