The Housing and Urban Affairs Secretary, Manoj Joshi, emphasized the need for a “credible framework” that would distinguish between good and bad real estate developers. Speaking at a real estate conference organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Secretary Joshi acknowledged that real estate projects, particularly in the housing sector, are predominantly funded through customer advances. He expressed the view that this existing model needs to be reevaluated and revamped.
