The two men tried to board an Air India Express flight (IX 1038) to Guwahati at around 3:42 pm. CISF personnel stopped them during random frisking at the departure area.

Police identified the accused as Suresh, son of Kanhiyalal Prajapat, and Vijay Singh, son of Rajendra Singh. Both come from Madhya Pradesh.

CISF Detects Suspicious Movement

CISF officers noticed unusual behaviour during screening. They decided to carry out a detailed search. During the inspection, they found heroin powder weighing about 4.800 kilograms in their possession.

Officials said the accused concealed the narcotics to avoid detection. However, alert security staff uncovered the contraband before the men could board the aircraft.

The seizure reflects strict monitoring at the airport. CISF teams continue to conduct regular checks to prevent illegal activities.

NCB Launches Investigation

CISF officials handed the accused and the seized heroin to the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for further action. The NCB has registered a case and started a detailed investigation.

Investigators will examine the source of the drugs and identify the intended recipients. They will also check whether the accused have links to a larger drug trafficking network.

Officials suspect that the consignment may form part of a wider interstate racket. The agency plans to question the accused to gather more leads.

Increased Vigilance in Northeast

Security agencies have tightened surveillance at airports across the Northeast. Drug traffickers often try to use air routes to transport narcotics quickly.

Authorities consider the region sensitive because of its proximity to international borders. As a result, security forces have increased checks at key transit points.

CISF officials said they will continue strict screening at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport. They aim to stop smuggling attempts and ensure passenger safety.

The latest seizure highlights the role of coordinated efforts between airport security and drug enforcement agencies. Officials believe such proactive action will deter future attempts to smuggle narcotics through air routes.
