Assam CM announces 5,000 police posts, updates on tea garden labour land allotment

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced the creation of 5,000 new posts in the state police force. The decision aims to strengthen law enforcement and improve public safety across districts. Because the state continues to expand its crime-prevention systems, the Assam police posts announcement reflects the government’s commitment to building a more efficient and responsive force. Therefore, the new recruitment drive will begin soon.

The Chief Minister shared the update during a public programme and said the new posts will help reduce the workload on existing personnel. He added that better staffing improves patrolling, emergency response, and district-level coordination. According to Sarma, the government wants every police station to function with full manpower so that people receive faster services.

The announcement comes at a time when Assam’s population has grown and the demand for policing has increased. With new cities expanding and rural networks improving, the state believes stronger policing will support both security and development.

Recruitment Drive Begins After Assam Police Posts Announcement

The recruitment process will include various categories across constable and sub-inspector levels. Officials said the government aims to maintain transparency throughout the process. Because Assam has conducted large-scale recruitment drives earlier, the administration wants to follow similar digital procedures this time as well.

The state police department will also introduce more training modules for new recruits. Training will include cybercrime handling, forensic skills, disaster response, and community policing. Since the nature of crime continues to evolve, these training upgrades will help new officers prepare for modern challenges. The Assam police posts announcement therefore supports both employment and enhanced capacity-building.

Additionally, the state plans to increase the number of women in the force. The Chief Minister said women officers play a crucial role in handling sensitive cases. He encouraged female applicants to participate actively in the upcoming recruitment cycle.

CM Shares Progress on Tea Garden Labour Land Allotment

Along with the Assam police posts announcement, Sarma also provided an important update on the land allotment process for tea garden labourers. The state has been working to hand over secure land titles to thousands of families who have lived in tea estates for generations. Because land ownership brings stability and dignity, the government considers this initiative essential for improving living conditions.

The Chief Minister said many families have already received land pattas under the ongoing scheme. He added that the government is now preparing to distribute the next phase of allotments. Officials are verifying land records, mapping estate boundaries, and coordinating with district authorities to speed up the process.

This update has brought relief to several tea garden communities. Many families hope the new land titles will help them build houses, apply for government schemes, and secure better futures for their children. Sarma said the government remains committed to completing the allotment process without delay.

Tea Garden Communities Welcome Assam Police Posts Announcement and Land Progress

Tea garden labour unions welcomed both announcements. Members said the new police posts will expand job opportunities for young people in the community. Because government employment offers stability, many families believe the drive will benefit educated youth seeking meaningful careers.

Residents also said the land allotment update brought renewed hope. Land ownership will give families access to housing grants, school facilities, and livelihood programmes. Several labourers expressed gratitude to the administration for taking long-awaited steps toward improving their lives.

The Chief Minister assured communities that no eligible family will be left out. District officials have been instructed to hold regular meetings with labour groups to solve pending issues and complete land verification quickly.

Assam Police Posts Announcement Strengthens State’s Development Vision

The announcements reflect the government’s multi-sector approach to development. Stronger policing supports safer neighbourhoods, while land rights empower vulnerable communities. Because both areas remain vital for long-term stability, the state believes these steps will help Assam move forward with confidence.

With 5,000 new police posts and continued progress on land allotment, Assam aims to build a secure, inclusive, and growth-driven environment for its people. Officials expect major developments in both initiatives over the coming months.
