AI-backed art tools have revolutionized the world of digital art, opening up a vast universe of creativity for artists. One recent example of this is the work of digital creator Shahid, known on social media as @sahixd. Shahid created a captivating series titled “Virat Kohli across the Multiverse,” using the AI art tool Midjourney. In this series, he portrayed Indian cricketer Virat Kohli in various avatars, ranging from a king and an astronaut to a footballer, a guitar player, a doctor, a soldier in an active war zone, a fruit seller, a pilot, and a policeman.

The series received considerable attention, garnering over 4,000 likes on various social media platforms. However, amidst the praise, some netizens pointed out that the subject in Shahid’s artwork did not resemble Virat Kohli as intended. Instead, they drew comparisons to Gaurav Chaudhary, a well-known YouTuber who is popularly known as Technical Guruji. Others suggested that the subject bore a closer resemblance to cricketers Ravindra Jadeja or Vijay Shankar. These comments sparked a debate about the accuracy of AI-generated portraits and the challenges artists face when representing recognizable individuals through artificial intelligence.

It is important to acknowledge that creating an AI-generated portrait that accurately captures the likeness of a specific person can be a complex task. While AI art tools have advanced significantly in recent years, they are still limited by the data they are trained on and the algorithms they employ. The quality of the final artwork can depend on various factors, including the clarity of the input prompt, the style of the AI model, and the artist’s creative choices.

In Shahid’s case, his intention was to depict Virat Kohli across different dimensions, exploring the cricketer’s versatility and capturing him in various roles. However, due to the inherent challenges of AI-generated portraiture, the final result may not have fully matched the artist’s vision or the expectations of some viewers. The resemblance to Gaurav Chaudhary, as pointed out by some netizens, may have been an unintended consequence of the AI’s interpretation of the input prompt or a similarity in facial features.

This incident highlights the nuances and complexities involved in AI-generated art. While AI tools can serve as powerful aids for artists, they are not infallible and can produce unexpected or inaccurate results. It is crucial to remember that AI models are trained on vast datasets, and their outputs are based on statistical probabilities rather than an exact representation of reality. As such, it is not uncommon for AI-generated portraits to have minor deviations from the intended subject.

Nevertheless, the emergence of AI-backed art tools has undeniably expanded the boundaries of artistic expression. Artists like Shahid are able to explore new dimensions and experiment with different styles and interpretations, pushing the boundaries of creativity. Even in cases where the resemblance to the intended subject may be imperfect, AI-generated art can still be appreciated for its imaginative and thought-provoking qualities.

In conclusion, Shahid’s series “Virat Kohli across the Multiverse” exemplifies the power and potential of AI-backed art tools in expanding the creative horizons of digital artists. While some viewers have pointed out discrepancies between the AI-generated subject and the intended likeness of Virat Kohli, this serves as a reminder of the complexities and limitations of AI-generated portraiture. Nonetheless, the series has sparked conversations about the intersection of art and technology, highlighting the ever-evolving landscape of digital creativity.
