Emmanuel Bonne, the diplomatic advisor to the French president, met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday to discuss the progress in various areas of bilateral cooperation ahead of Modi’s upcoming visit to France. The meeting aimed to strengthen the strategic partnership between India and France, with both leaders expressing their commitment to further enhancing ties.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi expressed his gratitude to President Emmanuel Macron for extending an invitation to participate in the Bastille Day celebrations as the Guest of Honour on July 14. This invitation serves as a testament to the growing warmth and importance of the relationship between the two nations.

The Indian Prime Minister also mentioned his recent meeting with President Macron in Hiroshima, where they had fruitful discussions. Modi expressed his eagerness to continue their conversations in Paris, as he believes it will further strengthen the India-France Strategic Partnership.

The meeting between Bonne and Modi showcased the strong and robust nature of the bilateral ties between India and France. Both nations have been working closely on various fronts, including defense, security, trade, and climate change.

France has emerged as a key strategic partner for India in recent years. The two countries have engaged in extensive defense cooperation, including joint military exercises, defense equipment procurement, and technology transfers. France has also been a reliable supplier of advanced military hardware to India, strengthening the Indian armed forces.

In the realm of security, India and France have been collaborating closely to counter terrorism and address common security challenges. Intelligence sharing and coordination between the two countries have helped in preventing terrorist activities and maintaining regional stability.

Trade and economic relations between India and France have witnessed significant growth in recent years. Both countries have been focusing on expanding bilateral trade and investment opportunities. French companies have made substantial investments in India across various sectors, including infrastructure, manufacturing, and information technology. Similarly, Indian companies have also made investments in France, contributing to job creation and economic growth in both nations.

Furthermore, India and France share a common vision on climate change and renewable energy. Both countries have been actively working together to address the global challenge of climate change through the International Solar Alliance (ISA). The ISA, initiated by India, aims to promote solar energy deployment and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. France has been a strong supporter of the ISA and has collaborated with India on various renewable energy projects.

The upcoming visit of Prime Minister Modi to France as the Guest of Honour during the Bastille Day celebrations is expected to further strengthen the bilateral ties between the two countries. It will provide an opportunity for the leaders of India and France to discuss and explore new avenues of cooperation.
