In a bid to revive the operations of Go First, the Resolution Professional (RP) of the grounded airline has announced the invitation of expressions of interest (EoI) from potential resolution applicants (RPAs). The airline has been facing financial difficulties, leading to its suspension of operations. With this latest development, there is hope for the revival of Go First and the restoration of its services.

According to the public notice issued by Go First RP, Shailendra Ajmera, interested parties have until August 9, 2023, to submit their EoIs. Following the submission deadline, a comprehensive evaluation process will take place to determine the eligible prospective resolution applicants. The final list of eligible RPAs will be announced on August 19, providing clarity on the potential contenders for resolving Go First’s financial challenges.

To ensure transparency and fairness, the RP has also established a mechanism for objections to the provisional list. Parties who wish to challenge the inclusion or exclusion of any applicant on the provisional list have until August 24 to submit their objections. This step allows for a thorough review process and helps to address any concerns or grievances related to the selection of prospective resolution applicants.

The invitation for EoIs and subsequent evaluation process marks a significant step in the resolution and potential revival of Go First. It presents an opportunity for interested parties to express their intent to participate in the restructuring or acquisition of the airline. This move is crucial not only for the future of Go First but also for the employees, stakeholders, and passengers who have been affected by the airline’s suspension of operations.

Go First, formerly known as GoAir, has been one of the prominent players in India’s aviation industry. The airline, which started operations in 2005, has faced various challenges in recent years, including financial constraints exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent disruption to the aviation sector. The grounding of Go First has led to a void in the market, affecting passengers and creating uncertainty for the airline’s workforce.

With the resolution process now underway, interested parties will have an opportunity to submit their proposals and potential plans for Go First’s future. The RP and other stakeholders will carefully evaluate the submitted EoIs to assess the viability, capability, and commitment of the prospective resolution applicants. The objective is to identify the most suitable candidate or consortium of candidates who can provide the necessary resources and strategic vision to revitalize the airline.

The successful resolution and revival of Go First will not only provide a lifeline for the airline but also contribute to the overall stability and growth of India’s aviation sector. It will help safeguard jobs, restore connectivity, and boost consumer confidence in air travel. Additionally, it will be a positive outcome for the airline’s passengers, who have been eagerly awaiting the resumption of services.

As the resolution process progresses, stakeholders, employees, and passengers will closely monitor the developments surrounding Go First. The timeline outlined in the public notice sets clear milestones for interested parties to engage and participate in the process. Ultimately, the resolution of Go First will depend on the collective efforts of all involved parties, including the RP, potential resolution applicants, and regulatory authorities.

The coming weeks will be crucial in determining the future trajectory of Go First. With the invitation for EoIs now open, prospective resolution applicants will seize this opportunity to present their plans and strategies for reviving the airline. As the August deadlines approach, the aviation industry and the public eagerly await updates on the potential resolution of Go First, hoping for a successful outcome that will bring back this vital player in India’s aviation landscape.
