Conrad K. Sangma has ordered an official inquiry into the availability of a doctor at the Mawiong Primary Health Centre (PHC) following the death of Ricky AJ Syngkon. The move comes amid growing public concern over alleged gaps in emergency medical services at the government facility.
Inquiry Initiated by Health Department
Speaking to reporters in Shillong, the Chief Minister confirmed that the state health department has begun a probe. The investigation will determine whether medical personnel were present at Mawiong PHC when Syngkon was brought there for emergency treatment.

Syngkon, the sitting Member of Parliament from Shillong and founding general secretary of the Voice of the People Party, reportedly collapsed while playing a futsal match last week. Bystanders rushed him to Mawiong PHC for immediate medical attention.
However, questions arose regarding the availability of a doctor at the centre at that crucial time. Soon after, medical teams shifted him to a private hospital in Shillong for advanced care. Despite efforts to revive him, doctors declared him dead on February 19.
