Meghalaya Leaders Mourn Sudden Demise of Shillong MP Dr. Ricky Syngkon

Conrad K. Sangma expressed profound grief over the sudden demise of Ricky Andrew J. Syngkon, the Member of Parliament from Shillong Lok Sabha constituency, who passed away at the age of 54 following a heart attack on Thursday evening.

CM Conrad Sangma Pays Tribute

In a heartfelt message posted on X, Chief Minister Sangma described Dr. Syngkon as a “dedicated and compassionate leader” who demonstrated deep enthusiasm for public service. He praised the late MP’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of his people.

“He was rooted in faith and served with humility, vision, and a sincere desire to uplift society,” Sangma wrote. The Chief Minister extended his condolences to Syngkon’s family, friends, and supporters, and prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul.

Sangma’s message reflected the deep sense of loss felt across party lines in Meghalaya.

Meghalaya Minister Wailadmiki Shylla also mourned the passing of Dr. Syngkon. He described the loss as immense not only for the bereaved family but also for the people of Shillong and the wider state.

“Dr. Syngkon was a sincere and hardworking leader who always placed the welfare of the people at the forefront,” Shylla posted on X. He offered prayers and heartfelt sympathies to the family.

The Meghalaya Health Department remembered Syngkon as a “gem” of a person, highlighting his humility, warm smile, kind heart, and dedication to serving the public. Officials noted that his approachable nature and commitment to social causes earned him widespread respect.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also expressed condolences. He prayed for the departed soul’s eternal peace and conveyed sympathies to the grieving family.

Dr. Ricky Andrew J. Syngkon built a reputation as a committed public servant. As a Lok Sabha MP representing Shillong, he focused on issues affecting his constituency and worked to raise the voice of Meghalaya at the national level.
