CM Highlights Need to Strengthen CSR in Mizoram
While addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Lalduhoma thanked UNDP India, the Planning & Programme Implementation Department, and the Mizoram CSR Cell for their efforts in launching the platform.
Referring to CSR data for 2023–24, he said Mizoram received only 0.06 percent of India’s total CSR expenditure. Therefore, he stressed the need to create stronger systems to attract CSR investments into the state.
To address this gap, the government established the CSR Cell in the Chief Minister’s Office in June 2024. Since then, the state has focused on building a structured ecosystem to support CSR initiatives.
Portal to Improve Transparency and Ease of Doing CSR
The Chief Minister said the launch of Mizoram CSR Connect marks an important step toward connecting CSR donors with genuine project seekers through a transparent digital platform.
Moreover, he said the portal will improve the ease of doing CSR in Mizoram. It will also ensure accountability, measurable outcomes, and better tracking of CSR-funded projects. As a result, corporate contributors can make informed decisions and monitor the impact of their investments.
Mizoram’s Strengths Make It Ideal for CSR Projects
Highlighting Mizoram’s strengths, Lalduhoma said the state offers a peaceful environment, low corruption levels, and a high literacy rate. In addition, he pointed to Mizoram’s strong progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
He also referred to the people’s deep-rooted spirit of tlawmngaihna, which reflects community responsibility and social commitment. According to him, these factors make Mizoram an ideal destination for meaningful CSR engagement.
The Chief Minister invited corporate entities and civil society organisations to actively participate in CSR initiatives in the state. He assured them that every rupee of CSR funding would be used in a transparent and impactful manner.
UNDP India Praises Initiative
Angela Lusigi, Resident Representative of UNDP India, welcomed the launch of Mizoram CSR Connect and described it as an initiative with national and global relevance.
She said UNDP India was proud to partner in the project and reaffirmed its focus on sustainable development, women empowerment, and environmental conservation. Furthermore, she praised Mizoram’s development efforts and reiterated UNDP’s commitment to continued collaboration with the state.
Lusigi also highlighted the importance of data-driven planning. She noted that the portal would help CSR stakeholders access reliable data and make informed decisions, leading to more effective development outcomes.

Secretary of the Planning & Programme Implementation Department, Lalmalsawma Pachuau, delivered the welcome address at the event. Meanwhile, TBC Lalvenchhunga, Adviser to the Chief Minister and Chairman of the Mizoram CSR Cell, highlighted key CSR opportunities available in the state.
