The Prime Minister emphasized that the Northeast is now a driving force in India’s growth story. He assured that his government would continue prioritizing infrastructure, connectivity, and investment in the region to ensure its progress.

Attack on Congress for Neglecting the Region

PM Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, accusing it of decades of neglect toward Assam and the Northeast. He said previous governments ignored the aspirations of the people in the region and failed to bring basic development to rural areas.

“The Congress never understood the potential of the Northeast. They sidelined it for political gains. Today, the BJP has changed this narrative,” he said, adding that the double-engine government is delivering development faster than ever before.

Double-Engine Government Model Praised

The Prime Minister highlighted the double-engine government model, where the same party governs both the state and the Centre, as the reason behind Assam’s rapid progress. He said this synergy has brought significant improvements in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and connectivity.

He credited initiatives like new highways, bridges, and railway links for reducing the isolation of the Northeast and creating opportunities for its youth. “Our vision for Viksit Bharat cannot be achieved without empowering the Northeast,” he said.

Focus on Development Projects in Assam

PM Modi also listed several initiatives that have changed the face of Assam. From building better road networks to increasing rural electrification, the government’s projects are transforming lives. He noted the importance of ongoing initiatives such as the Brahmaputra bridge projects, river connectivity plans, and expansion of airports to integrate Assam more closely with national and global markets.

He said tourism and trade in the region are thriving thanks to these investments, which were unimaginable under earlier governments.

Viksit Bharat Vision: Northeast at the Forefront

The Prime Minister placed the Northeast at the center of his Viksit Bharat vision, which seeks to make India a developed nation by 2047. He said the region will be a key player in India’s energy security, biodiversity conservation, and cross-border trade.

“Assam is not just a state; it is a gateway to South Asia. Our plans for industrial growth, renewable energy, and digital connectivity will make this region a powerhouse,” Modi said.

Call for Youth Participation

PM Modi urged the youth of Assam and the Northeast to take an active role in shaping the future. He highlighted government schemes that aim to provide entrepreneurship opportunities, digital skills, and jobs for young people.

“The talent in the Northeast is unmatched. With the right infrastructure and policies, our youth can compete with the best in the world,” he said.

Contrast Between BJP and Congress Governance

The rally also served as a platform for Modi to contrast the BJP’s development-focused governance with what he called the Congress’s “decades of neglect.” He said the BJP has delivered where the Congress failed, ensuring peace in previously disturbed areas through long-term policies and security initiatives.

He praised Assam for becoming a model of growth and stability, attributing this transformation to cooperation between the Centre and the state government.

Strengthening Cultural Identity

While emphasizing development, PM Modi also highlighted his government’s efforts to preserve the cultural heritage of the Northeast. He said initiatives like promoting traditional crafts, festivals, and languages have strengthened cultural pride and identity in the region.

“The Northeast’s culture is a jewel in India’s crown. Development should go hand in hand with preserving this identity,” he said.

Appeal for Continued Support

The Prime Minister concluded his address by urging the people of Assam and the Northeast to continue supporting the BJP’s vision. He said the party’s policies are designed to ensure not just growth but also dignity and opportunity for every citizen.

“The next era belongs to the Northeast. Together, we will create a Viksit Bharat where every corner of this region becomes a symbol of progress,” Modi said, drawing loud cheers from the crowd.

A Roadmap for Transformation

PM Modi’s rally in Darrang was not only a critique of Congress but also a roadmap for Assam’s future. By putting the Northeast at the heart of his Viksit Bharat vision. Also, Modi has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to bridging regional disparities.

With projects already changing the state’s landscape and plans for industrial and cultural growth underway. Furthermore, Assam is poised to play a central role in India’s development story.
