The Pune rural police made a breakthrough by busting an online gambling den in the Khandala area and arresting five individuals. The accused were identified as Ritesh Sham Dalvi (27) and Latikesh Sham Dalvi (23), both from Khandala Bajarpeth; Suresh Dattu Mankar (32) and Yusuf Tayyabali Shetiya (30) from Vadgaon Maval; and Munir Abdulla Rehman Bagwan (52) from Lonavla.

According to reports, the police received a tip-off that the accused were engaged in online gambling through a mobile phone application. Acting swiftly, a police team led by deputy superintendent of Police Satyasai Kartik raided a spot in the Khandala area, where they apprehended the five accused.

During the operation, the police seized five cell phones, cash worth Rs 20,790, and other items from the possession of the accused. Following the arrest, police constable Bhushan Kunvar filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the accused at the Lonavala City police station.

The incident highlights the growing prevalence of online gambling in India, which has become a major concern for law enforcement agencies. Online gambling is illegal in most states in India, including Maharashtra, and those caught engaging in it can face severe penalties.

The police have urged the public to report any instances of online gambling in their area, and have promised to take strict action against those caught engaging in such activities. As online gambling continues to pose a threat to public safety and security, law enforcement agencies must remain vigilant and take effective measures to combat it.
