The National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) has officially opened entries for Indian films, both in the feature and non-feature sections, to be showcased under the esteemed Indian Panorama section at the 54th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI). Organized by the NFDC, the nodal agency of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, IFFI takes place annually in Goa from November 20 to November 28.
The Indian Panorama section is a prestigious platform within IFFI, aimed at promoting Indian language films selected by a distinguished jury. These films are not only screened at IFFI but also at international film festivals in India and abroad, Indian Film Weeks organized under bilateral cultural exchange programs, specialized Indian film festivals outside cultural exchange protocols, and special Indian Panorama festivals within India, as mentioned in a press release issued by the Ministry.
To ensure a comprehensive evaluation, the feature film section jury will consist of twelve members, while the non-feature film section jury will comprise six members. These experts will assess the submissions and determine the most deserving films for inclusion in the Indian Panorama section at IFFI.
The NFDC’s announcement is expected to ignite enthusiasm among Indian filmmakers who aspire to showcase their work on a global platform. With its focus on diverse Indian languages, the Indian Panorama section provides a remarkable opportunity for talented filmmakers to gain international recognition and exposure. Furthermore, IFFI’s contribution to the growth and recognition of Indian cinema on a global scale cannot be overstated.
The call for entries for the Indian Panorama section at IFFI marks a significant milestone in the journey of Indian cinema. Filmmakers are encouraged to submit their finest works, spanning genres, narratives, and languages. The selection process by the jury ensures that only the most compelling and thought-provoking films make it to the final lineup, representing the rich tapestry of Indian cinema.
