“When Jal Jeevan Mission started 3.5 years ago, out of 18 crore rural households only 3 crore rural households had a tap water connection. Today, about 11 crore rural families in the country are getting tap water,” PM Modi said after inaugurating and laying foundation stone for projects worth Rs 10,863 crores in Yadgiri district. We brought development and good governance in those districts that were announced backward by the previous governments.
He said “The way the development is being carried out in North Karnataka is appreciable. As India has completed 75 years of its independence, now is the time it marches ahead with yet stronger spirits in the coming times. India can become ‘Developed’, only when the ‘Farms’ and the ‘Factories’ are both prosperous.”
He said, “The BJP government is emphasising on the development of infrastructure and this road project will eliminate connectivity issues in North Karnataka, which will benefit every person.” After laying the foundation stone of the 65.5 km section of National Highway 150C — the 6-lane Greenfield road project — which is part of the Surat-Chennai Expressway that will be built at a cost of about Rs 2,000 crore.
In other news, India Post inaugurated Bengaluru’s first evening post office on Monday. Situated on Museum Road, the post office offers services ranging from speed post to Aadhaar. The office will be open six days a week from 1 pm to 9 pm, offering services of speed post, parcel booking, parcel packing, Aadhaar services, picture postcards and stamp services. This initiative was introduced mainly for working professionals, making access to services easier for them.
