The Indian Australian Diaspora Foundation (IADF) is planning to hold a grand community reception to honor Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his upcoming visit to Australia. The event, which is scheduled for May 23 in Sydney, aims to provide the large and growing Indian diaspora in Australia with an opportunity to listen to the Prime Minister and showcase the diverse and rich culture of India. More than 20,000 members have registered to attend the event, which will also include colorful performances of singing, music, and various dance forms.
The reception has received an overwhelming response, with over 300 diaspora organizations from various social, cultural, linguistic, business, professional, and religious backgrounds registered to become welcome partners for the event. “We have seen grand events take place whenever Prime Minister Narendra Modi travels overseas, and the Indian diaspora is excited to have him in their midst. This event in Sydney is expected to be no different as there is a huge excitement among the locals to welcome the most popular leader worldwide,” said Vijay Chauthaiwale, who heads the BJP Foreign Affairs Department.
The reception will be held a day before the Quad Leaders’ Summit, which is scheduled for May 24 in Sydney. The Quad is a strategic alliance between the United States, Japan, India, and Australia aimed at promoting a free and open Indo-Pacific region. Ahead of his visit to Australia, PM Modi will be attending the G7 summit in Japan and the Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation Summit in Papua New Guinea.
