US Ambassador Eric Garcetti emphasized the shared desire of India and the United States for stability in Pakistan amidst the ongoing political crisis. He expressed hope that the rule of law and peace would prevail over the border while acknowledging India’s emergence as a global power and praising the progress the country has made in the last three decades.
Garcetti highlighted the common concern of the US, India, and the world for stability in Pakistan, stating that they wished to avoid unrest in the country. He emphasized the importance of engagement with Pakistan, as it serves the interests of India, the US, and the international community while leaving the decision for stability in Pakistan in the hands of its people.
During his visit to Mumbai, Garcetti discussed strategies to strengthen Indo-US partnerships with prominent figures from the cultural, financial, and business sectors. Reflecting on his previous visits to India as a teenager, he expressed his admiration for the growth and progress India has achieved over the past three decades, noting its emergence as a leading global power.
Garcetti highlighted the significant improvement in US-India ties since his graduation in 1992, including increased trade, defense cooperation, military interoperability, and student exchanges. He highlighted the bilateral trade volume reaching USD 191 billion, India’s status as the largest sender of students to the US, and the collaborative efforts between the two countries in addressing global challenges related to development, renewable energy, health, and technology.
