A young man named Shivam Yadav, hailing from Surajpur in Greater Noida, has set out on a remarkable journey inspired by the achievements of Shihab Chottur, a Keralite who traveled over 8,000 kilometers on foot to perform Hajj in Mecca. Shivam, aged 23, began his expedition on May 11, with the intention of reaching Mount Kailash in the Tibet region from Uttar Pradesh.
On Sunday, Shivam commenced the leg of his journey from Ayodhya to Bahraich, passing through Gonda. His ultimate aim is to cross the Rupediha border into Nepal, which will lead him towards China and, eventually, the revered Mount Kailash. However, unlike the proper channels followed by pilgrims undertaking the Kailash Mansarovar yatra, Shivam did not seek permission from either the Indian or Chinese governments before embarking on his adventure.
When questioned about the necessary approvals for his journey, Shivam responded confidently, stating that his faith would guide him to the divine abode of Lord Shankar. Nevertheless, it is important to note that traveling to the Mount Kailash region in Tibet requires a Chinese visa and a Tibet Travel Permit due to its restricted status as a remote area. Each year, hundreds of Indian pilgrims undertake the Kailash Mansarovar yatra, navigating the challenging terrain of the Tibetan Autonomous Region in China. This pilgrimage is organized by the Ministry of External Affairs and operates from June to September, offering two different routes: Lipulekh Pass in Uttarakhand and Nathu La Pass in Sikkim.
Shivam Yadav’s solo journey to Mount Kailash, while undoubtedly driven by deep spiritual devotion, raises concerns regarding the lack of necessary permissions. The official routes established by the Indian government prioritize safety and facilitate the smooth execution of the pilgrimage, ensuring that pilgrims are prepared for the arduous journey ahead. By bypassing these established protocols, Shivam exposes himself to potential risks and challenges, both legally and logistically.
Undeterred by the potential obstacles, Shivam continues to tread his path, propelled by unwavering faith and determination. His extraordinary pilgrimage captures the essence of human spirituality and the strength of personal conviction. As he ventures further into his expedition, it remains to be seen whether his faith will indeed guide him to the sacred Mount Kailash, transcending the bureaucratic requirements that govern such journeys.
