In a significant move, top leaders of various Opposition parties are scheduled to meet on Friday to strategize the formation of an anti-BJP front for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The meeting aims to establish a united front to take on the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed her determination to fight alongside other opposition parties “like a family” in a one-on-one battle against the ruling party.

Sources familiar with the matter have indicated that the opposition parties will prioritize building a common ground while deferring discussions on leadership issues for the time being. Approximately 15 parties, including several chief ministers, are expected to participate in the deliberations.

However, just ahead of the crucial meeting, some disagreements within the opposition ranks have surfaced. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has reportedly stated that they will withdraw from the meeting if the Congress party does not amend a particular article. The details of this article and its contents have not been specified.

The opposition parties are convening to outline a roadmap for forming an anti-BJP front ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. While the focus will be on building a common agenda, there have been reports of disagreements, with the AAP threatening to withdraw from the meeting if certain demands regarding an unspecified article are not met. The gathering is anticipated to play a crucial role in shaping the future political landscape in India.
