Lead star Sarah Jessica Parker believes that even after 25 years since its premiere, the cast of “Sex and the City” remains beloved by audiences. Parker attributes the show’s enduring popularity to its intimate and candid conversations among four women. Initially based on Candace Bushnell’s newspaper column and book anthology of the same name, the HBO series aired for six seasons from 1998 to 2004, and later expanded into two films. Now, the spin-off series “And Just Like That…” is in its second season on the streaming service Max.

When “Sex and the City” first aired in 1998, it quickly became a cultural phenomenon. The show followed the lives and romantic escapades of four women living in New York City: Carrie Bradshaw (played by Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte York (Kristin Davis). The series tackled themes of love, sex, friendship, and empowerment, providing a refreshing and unapologetic take on female sexuality and relationships.

One of the show’s key strengths was its ability to depict intimate and candid conversations among the characters. Viewers were drawn to the honest and relatable discussions about dating, career struggles, body image, and the complexities of modern relationships. The dialogue felt authentic and resonated with a wide audience, sparking conversations and making “Sex and the City” a cultural touchstone for many.

Lead star Sarah Jessica Parker, who played the iconic role of Carrie Bradshaw, recognizes the ongoing love and appreciation for the show. Despite the passage of time, audiences continue to connect with the characters and their stories. Parker’s belief in the enduring appeal of “Sex and the City” speaks to the show’s ability to capture universal experiences and emotions.

Following the original series, “Sex and the City” expanded its universe with two films: “Sex and the City: The Movie” in 2008 and its sequel in 2010. The movies reunited the beloved characters, providing fans with further insight into their lives and relationships. While the films received mixed reviews from critics, they were commercial successes and showcased the enduring popularity of the franchise.

Now, fans are eagerly following the spin-off series, “And Just Like That…,” which premiered on the streaming service Max. The new series picks up where the original show left off, exploring the characters’ lives in their 50s. Although Kim Cattrall did not return to reprise her role as Samantha Jones, the show introduced new characters and storylines while staying true to the core themes of friendship, love, and self-discovery.

“And Just Like That…” continues to delve into the intimate and candid conversations that made the original series so beloved. The show tackles contemporary topics and addresses the challenges faced by women in their 50s, offering a fresh perspective while honoring the spirit of its predecessor.

25 years after its premiere, “Sex and the City” remains a cherished and influential television series. The enduring popularity of the show can be attributed to its intimate and candid conversations among four women, which continue to resonate with audiences. With the spin-off series “And Just Like That…” now captivating viewers, the franchise lives on, evolving to explore the experiences of its characters in a new phase of their lives.
