The Congress party in Telangana has accused the local police and government machinery of creating obstacles for attendees of a public meeting led by senior party leader Rahul Gandhi in Khammam. However, the police have denied these allegations, asserting that they are not acting on behalf of any ruling party.

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President and Member of Parliament A Revanth Reddy reportedly contacted the state Director General of Police (DGP) Anjani Kumar to discuss the issue. Party sources confirmed the conversation took place. Meanwhile, former Union Minister Renuka Chowdhury criticized the police, suggesting that the ruling BRS (name of the ruling party) is anxious about the public meeting.

Congress MLA D Sridhar Babu went further and alleged that the police and government officials were deliberately obstructing the smooth conduct of the event, presumably at the behest of the ruling BRS leaders. However, the police have refuted these claims, asserting that they are impartial in their handling of the situation.

The public meeting organized by the Congress party featuring Rahul Gandhi has been a point of contention between the opposition and the ruling party. The Congress has been vocal about the alleged interference and hindrances encountered by their supporters and attendees during such events.

The Telangana Congress leadership, led by A Revanth Reddy, has raised concerns with the state DGP, urging him to ensure that no undue obstacles are placed in the path of the public meeting. Despite the allegations, the police maintain that their actions are guided by law and order considerations and not influenced by any political factors.

The ongoing disagreement between the Congress and the ruling BRS party in Telangana continues to fuel tensions and political rhetoric. Both parties have differing accounts of the events surrounding the public meeting, and it remains to be seen how the situation will unfold in the coming days.
