Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is a significant risk factor for heart disease, stroke, and other health problems. Managing it is essential for long-term well-being.

Understanding Hypertension: Hypertension is often called the “silent killer” because it typically has no noticeable symptoms. It occurs when the force of blood against the artery walls is consistently too high, potentially damaging arteries and organs.

Risk Factors: Risk factors for hypertension include genetics, obesity, a high-sodium diet, excessive alcohol consumption, lack of physical activity, and chronic stress.

Managing Blood Pressure: Lifestyle changes, such as adopting a heart-healthy diet (low in salt and rich in fruits and vegetables), regular exercise, maintaining a healthy weight, and reducing stress, can help manage and prevent hypertension. Medications may also be prescribed when necessary.
