Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched Orunodoi 3.0 in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), marking a major expansion of the state’s flagship welfare scheme. With this rollout, more than 4.12 lakh families in BTR will now receive ₹1,250 every month, directly empowering women and strengthening household economies. The launch event at Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar drew thousands, while district‑level ceremonies took place simultaneously across Udalguri, Baksa, Tamulpur, and Chirang.

The Chief Minister described the moment as a historic step toward inclusive development, especially because BTR had previously remained outside the scheme due to election‑related delays. Now, with Orunodoi 3.0 launched in BTR, the region finally joins the rest of Assam in accessing one of the state’s most impactful welfare programs.

Why Orunodoi 3.0 Matters for BTR

The Orunodoi 3.0 launched in BTR fulfills a promise the Chief Minister made during the BTC election campaign. He had assured residents that the scheme would reach BTR once the elections concluded. Today, that commitment stands delivered.

A Promise Turned Into Action

During his speech, CM Sarma recalled his discussions with BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary. Both leaders agreed that BTR must receive the same welfare benefits as the rest of Assam. Consequently, the government approved the inclusion of 4.5 lakh beneficiaries from the region.

This decision ensures that thousands of women in BTR now gain access to steady financial support. Moreover, it brings the region closer to the state’s broader development goals.

What Orunodoi 3.0 Offers to Families

Under Orunodoi 3.0, each eligible household receives ₹1,250 per month, transferred directly to the bank account of the female head of the family. This structure strengthens women’s financial independence and improves household stability.

Direct Support for Women’s Empowerment

The scheme aims to:

  • Improve nutrition
  • Support essential household expenses
  • Reduce financial stress
  • Strengthen women’s decision‑making power
  • Promote long‑term economic resilience

Because the funds go directly to women, the scheme creates a more secure and predictable financial environment for families.

The Chief Minister also announced that the December installment will be released immediately, ensuring that beneficiaries feel the impact without delay.

A Major Push for Inclusive Development

The Orunodoi 3.0 launched in BTR is not just a welfare expansion. It is a strategic move to integrate the region into Assam’s mainstream development framework.

Bringing BTR at Par With the Rest of Assam

For years, BTR residents demanded equal access to state welfare schemes. With this rollout, the government has taken a decisive step toward bridging that gap. The Chief Minister emphasized that development must reach every district, regardless of geography or political history.

He also highlighted that Orunodoi 3.0 will strengthen the grassroots economy, especially in rural and tribal communities.

Public Response and Regional Impact

The launch has generated widespread appreciation across BTR. Women’s groups, community leaders, and local organizations welcomed the decision, calling it a long‑awaited milestone.

Economic Ripple Effects Expected

Experts believe the scheme will:

  • Increase household purchasing power
  • Boost local markets
  • Improve nutrition and healthcare
  • Reduce reliance on informal loans
  • Strengthen rural economies

With over 4.12 lakh families receiving monthly assistance, the economic impact will be substantial.

The Orunodoi 3.0 launched in BTR marks a transformative moment for the region. By extending ₹1,250 monthly assistance to more than 4.12 lakh families, the government has strengthened its commitment to financial inclusion and women’s empowerment.

As the scheme begins reshaping household economies, communities and local leaders must ensure that every eligible family receives the benefits. True development begins when opportunity reaches every home — and Orunodoi 3.0 brings that opportunity to BTR.
