A Golden Jubilee Milestone for Rural Banking
Tripura Gramin Bank (TGB) marked its Golden Jubilee year with a major digital push on Monday. The bank launched its first-ever Co-Branded RuPay Credit Card in partnership with its sponsor bank, Punjab National Bank (PNB). The move highlights TGB’s focus on modern and customer-friendly banking solutions.
With this launch, TGB created history in the regional rural banking sector. It became the first Regional Rural Bank among the eight RRBs sponsored by PNB to roll out a Co-Branded RuPay Credit Card. It also became the first RRB in India to introduce such a product.
Leadership Driving Digital Transformation
The credit card launch took place under the leadership of Satyendra Singh, Chairman of Tripura Gramin Bank. Bank officials credited his vision for digital empowerment and inclusive growth for turning the Golden Jubilee year into a platform for innovation.
According to officials, the initiative reflects the bank’s commitment to adopting future-ready banking tools. It also strengthens TGB’s role in expanding access to formal credit for underserved communities.
Enhancing Credit Access for Rural Customers
The PNB–TGB Co-Branded RuPay Credit Card aims to improve convenience for customers in rural and semi-urban areas. The card allows users to access secure and reliable credit facilities within the RuPay payment ecosystem.
Officials said the card will support digital transactions and encourage cashless payments. Customers will also benefit from RuPay’s wide acceptance across India, including online platforms and point-of-sale terminals.
The bank expects the card to help bridge the gap between rural customers and modern banking products. It will also promote financial inclusion by offering safer and easier access to credit.
