A Golden Jubilee Milestone for Rural Banking

Tripura Gramin Bank (TGB) marked its Golden Jubilee year with a major digital push on Monday. With this launch, TGB created history in the regional rural banking sector. It became the first Regional Rural Bank among the eight RRBs sponsored by PNB to roll out a Co-Branded RuPay Credit Card. It also became the first RRB in India to introduce such a product.

Leadership Driving Digital Transformation

The credit card launch took place under the leadership of Satyendra Singh, Chairman of Tripura Gramin Bank. Bank officials credited his vision for digital empowerment and inclusive growth for turning the Golden Jubilee year into a platform for innovation.

According to officials, the initiative reflects the bank’s commitment to adopting future-ready banking tools. It also strengthens TGB’s role in expanding access to formal credit for underserved communities.

Enhancing Credit Access for Rural Customers

The PNB–TGB Co-Branded RuPay Credit Card aims to improve convenience for customers in rural and semi-urban areas. The card allows users to access secure and reliable credit facilities within the RuPay payment ecosystem.

Officials said the card will support digital transactions and encourage cashless payments. Customers will also benefit from RuPay’s wide acceptance across India, including online platforms and point-of-sale terminals.

The bank expects the card to help bridge the gap between rural customers and modern banking products. It will also promote financial inclusion by offering safer and easier access to credit.

High-Level Participation at Launch Event

Several senior officials and dignitaries attended the launch ceremony. Rakhi Biswas, Director (Small Savings, Group Insurance & Institutional Finance), Government of Tripura, was present at the event.

Other attendees included Satyendra Singh, Chairman of TGB; Deepak Kumar, General Manager (Public Relations & Credit Card Division), PNB Head Office; and Taufique Alam, MD & CEO, PNB Cards & Services Ltd.

Diganta Kumar Das, Deputy General Manager, NABARD Tripura Regional Office, and Rituraj Krishna, Deputy General Manager and Circle Head, PNB Circle Office, Agartala, also attended the programme.

Senior officials from Tripura Gramin Bank, representatives of PNB and PNB Cards & Services Ltd., and members of the media were also present.

Strengthening the TGB–PNB Partnership

Bank officials said the launch further deepened the long-standing partnership between Tripura Gramin Bank and Punjab National Bank. Both institutions continue to focus on innovation and sustainable banking practices.

As TGB completes 50 years of service, the new credit card reflects its shift toward digital banking and customer empowerment. The initiative positions the bank as a leader among regional rural banks in adopting modern financial solutions.
