Police Identify the Individual

Superintendent of Police Kirli Padu identified the militant as Jungron Chena. He hails from Manmao village in the district.

Officials said Chena chose to surrender voluntarily. His decision reflects growing trust in government initiatives aimed at rehabilitation and reintegration.

Weapons and Materials Handed Over

Chena surrendered before district police in the presence of senior officers and personnel from the Assam Rifles. During the process, he handed over a .32 mm pistol, one magazine, five rounds of ammunition, and a mobile handset with a SIM card.

Security officials confirmed that they secured all items and followed proper procedures during the surrender.

Boost to Counter-Insurgency Efforts

Authorities believe this surrender will support ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the region. It may also encourage other militants to lay down arms.

Security forces continue to conduct operations across vulnerable areas. At the same time, they promote peaceful solutions and rehabilitation programs for those willing to return to mainstream society.
