Therefore, he expressed confidence that the two governments could now work together more effectively for regional progress and security.

Focus on Assam-West Bengal Cooperation

The Chief Minister stated that Assam feels more secure due to political cooperation with West Bengal. He highlighted that such coordination had remained absent for many decades.

Moreover, Sarma described the participation of the West Bengal Chief Minister in the oath-taking ceremony as a positive sign of unity and partnership between the neighbouring states.

He also noted that stronger regional coordination could help both governments address border issues, infrastructure development, trade, and security-related concerns.

Several chief ministers from NDA-ruled states, foreign envoys, industrialists, and sportspersons also participated in the event. As a result, the ceremony emerged as a major political gathering in Northeast India.

Sarma stated that the Prime Minister’s presence reflected the central government’s commitment toward Assam and the Northeast region.

During his address, Sarma reiterated that the BJP-led NDA 3.0 government in Assam would attempt to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC).

He pointed out that states such as Uttarakhand and Gujarat had already moved forward with the policy. Furthermore, he stressed that protecting Assam’s identity and ensuring security would remain top priorities for his government.

At the same time, Sarma said the administration would continue to align Assam’s growth with India’s larger development goals.

Chief Minister Reflects on First Term

Reflecting on his previous tenure, Sarma described his first term as a learning phase. He said the government faced multiple challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic, which slowed several development projects.

However, he expressed confidence that the second term would deliver faster infrastructure growth and better governance. He also stated that stronger political coordination with neighbouring states could accelerate regional development.
