Manipur Police arrested three alleged militant cadres linked to different banned outfits and a suspected drug trafficker during separate operations conducted across the state on July 23. The operations led to the seizure of a pistol, live ammunition, and 389 grams of suspected heroin.

Police Conduct Statewide Crackdown

Manipur Police carried out coordinated operations across several districts on July 23, leading to the arrest of three alleged militant cadres linked to different banned organisations. In addition, officers apprehended a suspected drug trafficker during a separate anti-narcotics operation.

According to police, the operations targeted individuals allegedly involved in extortion, illegal activities, and drug trafficking across the state.

Alleged KYKL Cadre Arrested with Firearm

During one operation, police arrested Mayanglambam Tomba Singh alias Lakpa (39) from the Tera Urak checkpoint under Bishnupur Police Station. He is alleged to be an active cadre of the banned KYKL outfit.

Furthermore, officers recovered a 9 mm pistol, a magazine, and 11 live rounds of ammunition of different calibres from his possession. Police also alleged that he was involved in an explosion at a petrol pump in Moirang.

UKNA and KCP Cadres Also Held

In another operation, security forces arrested S. Palal Kuki alias Lalboi Singson, who is alleged to be an active cadre and finance head of the banned UKNA outfit. Police claimed he was involved in several cases related to firing and extortion.

Meanwhile, police also arrested Gurumayum Khugamani Sharma alias Nanao alias Bamon (37) from Wangkhei Ayangpali Road in Imphal East district. Authorities identified him as an alleged active cadre of the banned KCP organisation and accused him of involvement in extortion-related activities.

Suspected Heroin Trafficker Apprehended

Separately, Manipur Police arrested Mrs. Leila (30) from Lilong Bazar in Thoubal district during an anti-drug operation.

Moreover, officers recovered 10 soap cases containing 389 grams of suspected heroin from her possession. Police have registered a case and launched further investigations to determine the source and intended destination of the suspected narcotics.

Investigation Continues

Police said investigations are ongoing in all four cases. Authorities are examining possible links between the accused and broader criminal or militant networks operating in the state.

Additionally, security agencies continue to strengthen operations against insurgency, extortion, and drug trafficking as part of efforts to maintain law and order in Manipur.
