₹8.80 Crore Methamphetamine Seized in Champhai
In the first operation, Assam Rifles personnel conducted a search in the Tlangsam area of Champhai district.
During the search, the team found 10 boxes containing approximately 11 kg of methamphetamine tablets. Officials estimated the value of the seized narcotics at around ₹8.80 crore.
Following the recovery, Assam Rifles handed the seized drugs to the Excise and Narcotics Department in Champhai.
The department will now conduct further investigation and take appropriate legal action in the case.
Illegal Foreign-Origin Cigarettes Seized at Seling
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles carried out another operation at Seling in coordination with the Aizawl District Executive Force.
During the joint operation, personnel seized 14 master boxes and 249 boxes containing illegal foreign-origin cigarettes.
The boxes contained a total of 1,89,800 cigarette sticks. Officials estimated the value of the cigarette consignment at approximately ₹47.45 lakh.
Additionally, officials apprehended one person during the operation. The team also seized a car allegedly linked to the cigarette consignment.
Authorities later handed the person, cigarettes and vehicle to the Aizawl District Executive Force for further investigation and legal proceedings.
Combined Seizures Cross ₹9.27 Crore
Together, the two operations resulted in the recovery of narcotics and illegal cigarette consignments worth more than ₹9.27 crore.
