Delhi Government Gives Rs 100 crore to the 12 fully funded colleges of Delhi University in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2023-24, as per reports on Thursday. The Delhi Government and these colleges have had a prolonged conflict over the disbursement of funds, with the government stating that funds will only be released after governing bodies are constituted according to rules.

The release of funds has come as a relief to teachers who have been complaining about delayed salaries. The government has allocated Rs 400 crore for the financial year 2023-24 and has promised to increase the funds for these 12 colleges every year to ensure quality higher education for every child in Delhi.

The fully funded colleges include Acharya Narendra Dev College, Aditi Mahavidyalaya, Bhagini Nivedita College, Bhaskaracharya College, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College, Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Keshav Mahavidyalaya, Maharaja Agrasen College, Maharshi Valmiki College of Education, Shaheed Rajguru College, and Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies.

The government has also announced the inauguration of Indraprastha University’s new East campus, which will function at full capacity starting in May. The state-of-the-art campus has facilities like sports halls, labs, a library, and hostel blocks, and can accommodate up to 2,400 students. The CM is expected to inaugurate the campus soon, and the education minister Atishi has already inspected the campus to ensure that everything is in order.
