Bajrang Punia, an Olympic medallist, has announced that the wrestlers’ protest against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh will continue until he is sent to jail over sexual harassment charges, according to ANI. Delhi Police has confirmed that they will register an FIR against Singh in response to the charges.

However, protesting wrestlers have expressed their lack of trust in the Delhi Police, with Vinesh Phogat stating that they might file a “loose FIR”. The Supreme Court has been hearing a plea by seven women wrestlers seeking registration of an FIR against Singh, with the matter deemed “serious”.

Anurag Thakur, the Union Sports Minister, broke his silence over the protest, stating that the government had allowed all protesting wrestlers to present their case before the oversight panel and that they were committed to an “impartial probe” into the allegations against Singh.

Thakur has spent 12 hours listening to the wrestlers’ grievances and forming a committee to investigate the matter. The committee included Babita Phogat, who was suggested by the protesters.

Sakshi Malik expressed her gratitude towards the Supreme Court for directing the Delhi Police to file a case against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on sexual harassment charges. She said that this marks the first step towards victory. However, Malik also stated that the wrestlers’ protest will continue despite the assurance from the Delhi Police.
