The Canadian government has named Satinder Singh Brar, also known as Goldy Brar, as one of the country’s top 25 most wanted criminals. Brar, who is accused of being the mastermind behind the killing of famous singer-politician Sidhu Moosewala, is wanted by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police following India’s request for an Interpol Red Notice in June 2022.

The 29-year-old Punjab-origin affiliate of Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang is accused of a range of crimes in India, including murder, attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and illegal arms trafficking. While there is no reward for information leading to Brar’s capture, his life-sized cutout has been displayed alongside the other fugitives at Toronto’s Yonge-Dundas Square as part of the Bolo (Be On the Lookout) Programme list.

Brar’s inclusion on the list highlights the growing issue of organized crime in Canada, particularly within certain ethnic communities. The Bolo Programme, which was launched in 2018, seeks to engage the public in helping to locate and apprehend Canada’s most wanted fugitives. The programme has been successful in the past, with several high-profile fugitives being apprehended as a result of tips from the public.

The inclusion of Brar on the list is also significant because it suggests that Canadian authorities are taking the issue of international criminal networks seriously. Organized crime groups, particularly those with links to other countries, can pose a significant threat to national security and public safety.

The fact that Brar is accused of crimes in India underscores the global reach of such criminal networks. It also highlights the importance of international cooperation in combating organized crime. The fact that India was able to obtain an Interpol Red Notice for Brar suggests that there is a growing recognition among law enforcement agencies around the world of the need to work together to address transnational crime.

Brar’s alleged involvement in the killing of Sidhu Moosewala has also attracted attention in India, where the singer-politician was a well-known figure. Moosewala was shot dead in May 2021 in Punjab, India, in what was believed to be a targeted killing. Brar’s alleged role in the crime has not been confirmed, but his inclusion on the Bolo Programme list suggests that Canadian authorities believe there is sufficient evidence to link him to the killing.

The fact that Brar is allegedly affiliated with Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang is also significant. Bishnoi is a notorious criminal in India, with a reputation for violence and extortion. He has been linked to a number of high-profile crimes, including the murder of a journalist in 2018. Bishnoi’s gang is believed to have extensive links with criminal networks in other countries, including Canada.

The inclusion of Brar on the Bolo Programme list is a reminder of the ongoing threat posed by organized crime in Canada and around the world. It is also a reminder of the need for international cooperation in addressing this threat. The Bolo Programme is an important tool in this regard, as it seeks to engage the public in helping to locate and apprehend fugitives. By working together, law enforcement agencies and the public can help to disrupt the activities of criminal networks and bring those responsible for crimes to justice.
