UP CM Yogi Adityanath Says BJP’s “Double-Engine” Government Has Put an “Aligarh Lock” on Riots

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has claimed that the BJP’s “double-engine” government has successfully controlled riots in the state by putting an “Aligarh lock” on them. Speaking at a campaign event for urban local body polls in Aligarh, the CM attacked opposition parties for promoting the “tamancha culture” (country-made pistol) in the state.

Adityanath’s remarks come in the wake of the Panchayat elections held in UP, which saw violence and reports of rigging in several areas. The opposition parties have accused the BJP of using muscle power and violence to win the polls. The CM’s statement can be seen as a response to these allegations, and an attempt to project the BJP as a party that has effectively maintained law and order in the state.

“The double-engine government of the BJP has put an Aligarh lock over riots in the state and made UP riot-free,” Adityanath said at the event. The term “double-engine” refers to the BJP’s control over both the central and state governments, which the party claims has allowed it to implement its policies effectively. The “Aligarh lock” is a reference to the famous locks manufactured in the city of Aligarh, which are known for their strength and durability.

Adityanath’s comments have drawn criticism from the opposition parties, who have accused him of using divisive language and promoting a false narrative. The Congress party’s UP spokesperson, Zeeshan Haider, said that the CM’s statement was an insult to the people of the state, who have suffered due to the BJP’s mismanagement and neglect.

The Samajwadi Party’s spokesperson, Anurag Bhadauria, said that Adityanath’s statement was an attempt to divert attention from the BJP’s failures in governance. He pointed out that the law and order situation in the state had deteriorated under the BJP’s rule, and that incidents of violence and crime had increased.

The Aam Aadmi Party’s spokesperson, Vaibhav Maheshwari, said that Adityanath’s statement was a reflection of the BJP’s mindset, which was focused on promoting hate and division. He said that the people of UP were tired of the BJP’s rhetoric and wanted a government that would work for their welfare and development.

In recent years, UP has witnessed several incidents of communal violence and riots, including the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots and the 2019 anti-CAA protests, which saw clashes between the police and protesters. The state has also been in the news for incidents of mob lynching and vigilante violence, which have raised concerns about the safety and security of minority communities.

Despite these challenges, the BJP has been successful in winning elections in the state by projecting itself as a party that is committed to development and good governance. However, the opposition parties have accused the BJP of using divisive tactics and promoting a false narrative to win elections.

As the state gears up for the Assembly elections next year, the issue of law and order is likely to be a major factor in the campaign. The opposition parties are expected to focus on the BJP’s failures in governance, while the ruling party is likely to highlight its achievements and project itself as a party that is capable of maintaining law and order in the state.
