Senior managing director and chairperson for Accenture in India, Rekha Menon, will retire on June 30. In response, Accenture has restructured its leadership roles by eliminating the position of chairperson and creating two new roles: Country Managing Director and Lead for India Market Unit.
Ajay Vij has been named as the new Country Managing Director for Accenture in India, while Sandeep Dutta will assume the role of Lead for India Market Unit. These changes will take effect immediately after Menon’s retirement.
Menon has been with Accenture for over 16 years and was the first woman to lead Accenture in India. She has been instrumental in driving the company’s growth in India and has contributed significantly to building a diverse and inclusive work environment.
In her new role, Vij will be responsible for managing Accenture’s operations and business strategy in India, while Dutta will lead the company’s market strategy in the country.
These changes reflect Accenture’s commitment to developing its leadership pipeline and creating a more diverse and inclusive workplace. The company is dedicated to promoting gender and ethnic diversity in its leadership ranks and has set a goal of achieving a 50/50 gender balance in its workforce by 2025.
In addition to its efforts to promote diversity, Accenture has also been investing heavily in India. The company recently announced plans to hire 1,000 employees in the country by 2022, as part of its efforts to expand its digital capabilities and enhance its services.
