“After over sixteen years of service with Google, I was recently laid off. Despite the setback, my experience at Google has been an incredible journey, and I will never forget the lessons I have learned, both professionally and personally.

When I first started at Google, I felt overwhelmed. I had just graduated college and was starting my first job. It felt like I had jumped into the deep end. I was surrounded by knowledgeable people who had been in the industry for years, whereas I had only a few months of experience. I had to learn quickly and prove myself, but I was determined to succeed.

I started out in a customer service role, helping people resolve their technical issues. I was often faced with challenging questions and complex problems, but I managed to stay on top of them. Over the years, I moved into more technical roles, such as software engineering and product management. My background in customer service and problem-solving enabled me to transition quickly and efficiently.

Working at Google provided me with many incredible opportunities. I gained valuable experience in working with large-scale projects and leveraging new technologies. I also had the chance to interact with other departments and collaborate on ideas to improve products. I was also fortunate enough to attend events like Google I/O, which provided me with a deeper understanding of the industry.

Throughout my sixteen years at Google, I was also able to develop strong relationships with my colleagues. I learned from their experiences and was able to support them through their own professional journeys. I was lucky enough to participate in Google’s professional development program, which allowed me to hone my skills and further my career.

I am still processing the fact that my employment with Google is over, but I have learned so much in my sixteen years with the company. It has been an incredible journey that I will never forget. The experiences and relationships I have made at Google will stay with me for a lifetime, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities that I have had.”
