Winter calls for eating some unique and exotic food right? A prime reason for this is the variety of fruits and vegetables available in the market during winter. All the colorful and green vegetables available in Winter are full of nutrients. For instance, our Winter favorite Gajar ka Halwa or Sarson ka Saag are made with seasonal vegetables. India has a good stock of special recipes for every season and Winter gets the best of them.

Most of the vegetables in India are available based on their seasonality.  Also, every region has a particular set of spices and ingredients to use in different seasons. So, let’s know about the best Winter Recipes to try:

Bharwan Gobhi 

Gobhi is a Winter favorite vegetable in the North part of the country. For this dish, the cauliflower florets are filled with cheese and spices. It’s coated with gram flour and then fried in oil. Further, it’s garnished with coriander and enjoyed with Rotis or Parathas. 

Sarson ka Saag

Nothing can beat the authentic ghee-laden Sarson ka Saag relished in every Punjabihousehold during winters. Sarson is mustard greens that are cooked with spices and served with Makki ki Roti. 

Gajar ka Halwa 

Gajar ka Halwa is a Winter favourite dessert in India. It is made with grated carrots, milk, sugar, nuts, etc. Also, it’s laden with ghee and served hot after dinner. The dessert has a rich and creamy texture with a bright orange color.  

Undhiyo 

Undhiyo is an authentic Gujarati dish. It is a kind of mixed vegetable dish filled with sweetness and lots of spices. Particularly,  earthy root vegetables and bananas are added. It gives a crunchy, rich, and brittle texture. 

Beetroot kebab 

Beetroot is full of nutrients with goodness for health. Grated Beetroot is mixed with boiled potatoes, peas, and carrots. Moreover, spices are added and it is served with coriander chutney for snacks. So, the dish has a crunchy and smoky flavor.

These are some of Winter’s favorite recipes cooked in Indian households. Alongside, they have a rich texture and the vegetables are cooked with Indian spices serving hot.
