Armed Men Attack Mosque In Haryana, 5 Arrested

On Sunday evening, a group of armed men attacked a mosque in Sandhal Kalan village, Sonipat district, injuring at least six worshippers who were performing Ramadan prayers.

The assailants also vandalized the property in the mosque, according to a statement by one of the injured victims. The attackers, who also hailed from the same village, were allegedly armed with hockey sticks, swords, and other sticks, and even targeted children and women.

The police have taken swift action in response to the incident, arresting five suspects and filing a First Information Report (FIR) against 19 people in connection with the attack. The police have also detained 16 youths for questioning. They are currently camping in the area to maintain law and order.

The incident has been widely condemned by the villagers, who have expressed solidarity with the affected community and pledged to ensure the safety of the mosque and its worshippers. Police officials have emphasized that the attack was unprovoked and that there had been no prior disputes or tensions in the village.

Several of the injured victims have been admitted to Sonipat government hospital for treatment. A police officer, Satheesh Balan, has assured the public that the police will take stern action in response to such incidents.
