Detentions reported from several Assam districts
Several districts reported significant numbers of detentions during the operation. Lakhimpur recorded 15 detentions, while 13 people were detained in Nagarbera.
Bongaigaon and Goroimari reported 10 detentions each. Morigaon and Dhubri recorded seven each, while five people were detained in Goalpara. Bajali, Tamharhat and Sonatoli reported four detentions each, while Chhaygaon recorded one. Sivasagar and Golaghat reported two detentions each.
The figures show that the Assam Police crackdown has covered both urban and rural areas. Police operations are being conducted through local police stations, with teams questioning suspects and checking available information.
Kokrajhar and Bongaigaon see overnight raids
In Kokrajhar, police detained 20 people during a night-long operation conducted across four police station areas. Eight were detained under Kokrajhar Sadar Police Station, three under Bagribari, two under Fakiragram and seven under Gossaigaon.
Meanwhile, Bongaigaon Police detained 12 people during overnight raids. Two suspects were picked up by Bongaigaon Sadar Police, two by Abhayapuri Police, five by Jogighopa Police and three by Mererchar Police.
Police said those detained were allegedly involved in fraud and cheating in their respective areas. Questioning and investigations were continuing following the raids.
Guwahati police also join the drive
The Assam Police crackdown also reached Guwahati, where Garchuk Police detained five people allegedly linked to fraudulent activities in the area.
According to police sources, several cases are pending against some of the accused in connection with alleged cheating and other fraudulent activities. Police are examining the cases and checking whether the suspects have wider links to organised fraud networks.
The investigation is also expected to help police understand the methods used in the alleged scams. Authorities are examining fraudulent calls, messages and financial transactions as part of the wider inquiry.
