Strong Performances in Italy and Germany

Viraj first participated in the Italian International Open, a highly competitive tournament that featured nearly 100 players from different countries. The event included experienced professionals as well as emerging talents. Despite the challenging field, Viraj played with confidence and consistency.

Subsequently, he moved on to Germany for another FIDE-rated tournament as part of the same European tour. Once again, he delivered solid results. Moreover, he adapted well to different playing styles and competitive conditions. These performances significantly contributed to his overall rating improvement.

Growing Presence on the International Chess Circuit

Through both tournaments, Viraj demonstrated maturity beyond his age. In addition, his disciplined approach and tactical awareness stood out against seasoned opponents. Such performances underline his steady progress and growing presence in international chess.

According to chess observers, a gain of 290 Elo points at this stage is a strong indicator of long-term potential. Therefore, his success in Europe is being seen as an important step forward in his career.

Pride for Assam and Inspiration for Young Players

Viraj is a Class VI student of Royal Global School in Guwahati. Alongside his academics, he has been training consistently and participating in competitive events. Consequently, his latest achievement has brought pride to Assam’s sporting community.

More importantly, his journey serves as inspiration for young chess players from the Northeast. With continued training and exposure, Viraj Sarawgi is expected to take part in more international tournaments in the future. Ultimately, his rise highlights the growing footprint of Indian chess on the global stage.
